Inside One of the Busiest Periods in Mount Pleasant Studio’s History

Choosing The Right Film Studio In London
It has been one of the busiest and most varied few months in Mount Pleasant Studio’s history. From commercials and entertainment formats to virtual production, video podcasts, interviews and livestreamed events, the productions coming through our doors have demonstrated just how diverse modern studio work has become.

Green Screen Meets AI-Generated Production

Our green-screen infinity cove recently hosted a week-long film shoot that combined live-action performers with AI-generated backgrounds. It was an exciting example of how traditional production techniques are being brought together with emerging technology to create entirely new possibilities on screen. The trailer is due to be released soon, and we are looking forward to sharing the finished results. We were also pleased to welcome the Royal Opera House to the studio to produce green screen video content for an upcoming production. With a large infinity cove, extensive lighting options and the production expertise needed to support technically demanding shoots, the studio can be adapted for everything from straightforward chroma key filming to more complex virtual environments.

Major Commercial Productions

Commercial production has remained a major part of the studio calendar. Hungry Man and Dawn Productions took over the space to shoot a significant social-first campaign for Andrex, starring Katherine Ryan. It marked Katherine’s second visit to Mount Pleasant Studio in just one month, following a previous shoot for Comic Relief and the BBC. The campaign also brought an impressive camera setup into the studio. For the first time, we saw two Sony VENICE 2 cameras deployed on a social campaign. That level of production is absolutely fine by us. We have also gone back to our commercial roots by hosting Wonderhood’s latest advertisements for Numan, alongside an upcoming campaign for a major supermarket. LADbible returned to film branded content with NatWest, while Bauer Media produced a Maltesers and Kiss FM promotion starring Olivia Attwood and Pete Wicks. The studio has also hosted promotional shoots for both Heart and Capital on behalf of Global.

LED Walls and Virtual Production Capabilities

Virtual production has continued to play an important role in recent shoots, alongside a growing number of productions making use of large-scale LED walls. CUBE Studio recently constructed another LED wall inside the space for the commercial launch of a new technology company. This followed the 6m x 3m LED wall installed for the National Emergency Briefing shoot in March, which Execute London produced. Our open studio space provides production teams with the flexibility to build LED installations, large-scale sets and custom environments around the specific needs of each project. Combined with our power, access and production support, this makes Mount Pleasant Studio a strong option for ambitious studio productions, including LED wall and virtual production shoots in London.

Entertainment Formats and Familiar Faces

The entertainment side of the studio calendar has been just as busy. We hosted a YouTube game-show format presented by Sidemen star Miniminter, with singer-songwriter Myles Smith appearing as the celebrity guest. The following week, Chunkz arrived at the studio to film a YouTube format of his own. Podcast production has also taken on a more cinematic scale. A four-day shoot for a brand-sponsored celebrity video podcast took place ahead of its September release, while episodes of Brittany Broski’s Royal Court podcast were filmed within an extraordinary castle set. The elaborate set welcomed Matt Smith to coincide with the second season of House of the Dragon, as well as stars from Bridgerton and Heartstopper. It was a brilliant demonstration of how a video podcast can be transformed into a complete entertainment format with the right concept, set and production environment.

Interviews, Press Junkets and Livestreams

Mount Pleasant Studio has continued to host a wide range of interview-led productions, including in-depth conversations for a global business news website and documentary and corporate interviews for organisations across different sectors. We have also welcomed US virtual press junkets for television shows filmed in the UK. One particular highlight was working with the magnificent Brenda Blethyn, whose composure, professionalism and stamina impressed everyone throughout a full day of interviews. The schedule included appearances with US chat shows, news programmes and YouTube channels across the country, all conducted remotely from the studio. Elsewhere, a returning client used the studio for another four-day livestreamed medical conference. Livestreamed productions bring their own technical and logistical demands, particularly when multiple speakers, presentations and remote audiences are involved. Our team can support these requirements with studio facilities, crew and production expertise where needed.

A Studio Supported by Experienced People

While the space needs to look and perform at its best, we know that the people behind it matter just as much. As Dan Shepherd of Bugle Media recently put it: “Excellent studio and fantastic people... All went really well and Ray & team were brilliant as usual.” Our team works closely with visiting production companies to help shoots run smoothly from arrival through to wrap. In addition to studio hire, we can supply experienced crew and wider production support on request.
