Why Visualised Podcasts Need a Broadcast-Grade Studio

Why Visualised Podcasts Need a Broadcast-Grade Studio Over the past 18 months, we’ve seen a clear shift in the type of projects coming through our doors at Mount Pleasant Studio. Podcasts are no longer just audio recordings with a couple of locked-off cameras. They are increasingly video-first productions designed for YouTube, social platforms and brand channels as much as for Spotify or Apple. Production values are rising. Guests are higher profile. Expectations are closer to broadcast than bedroom studio.  In response to this shift, we’ve formally launched a dedicated Visualised Podcast Studio offering at Mount Pleasant Studio in Clerkenwell.

From Broadcast Interviews to Visualised Podcasts

Mount Pleasant Studio was originally established as a soundproof film and TV studio. For two decades, we’ve hosted broadcast interviews, documentary content and TV commercials. That heritage now places us in a strong position for this new wave of visual podcasts. Recent projects at the studio include:
  • Episodes of This Life of Mine, produced by Fulwell73, featuring guests such as David Beckham, Brian Cox and Anthony Joshua
  • An in-house podcast series for Novo Nordisk produced by Bray Leino
  • An episode of Royal Court with the Bridgerton cast, produced by JAM96 and hosted by Brittany Broski
  • Multiple financial services podcasts, including a pilot for HSBC
We’ve also hosted numerous promo and junket interviews for Netflix, including content tied to Stranger Things. The lines between podcast, digital promo and broadcast interview are increasingly blurred. What producers need is no longer simply “a podcast room” but a controlled, professional studio environment.

A Broadcast-Grade Environment for Video-First Podcasts

Many podcast studios are designed primarily for audio. They can be perfect for small-scale audio recording, but often lack the infrastructure required for multi-camera, high-end video production. Mount Pleasant Studio was built differently.

True Soundproofing

Our studio is genuinely soundproofed, not just acoustically treated. That means no lost takes due to sirens, aircraft or building noise. For dialogue-led content, clean audio is non-negotiable.

Pre-Rigged, Professional Lighting

We have a pre-rigged lighting grid and an extensive in-house inventory of LED fixtures from Nanlux, ARRI and Aputure. Productions can achieve consistent, high-end lighting without complex rig builds or lengthy pre-light days.

Flexible Shooting Space

The U-shaped infinity cove allows for clean, minimal looks or more developed set builds. The space works equally well for:
  • Talent-led interview formats
  • Three-camera podcast setups
  • Branded content conversations
  • Livestreamed projects

Livestream-Ready Infrastructure

With fibre connectivity and a controlled environment, the studio is well-suited to remote contributors, live streaming and global corporate comms.

Designed Around Producers

Our Visualised Podcast offering is intentionally crew-agnostic. Productions can:
  • Bring their own crew and kit
  • Use trusted crew recommended by us
  • Opt for a streamlined, multi-camera interview or podcast package
We understand call sheets, turnaround pressures and talent logistics because we’ve worked alongside producers for 20 years. Our goal is simple: remove friction.

Central London, Talent-Ready

Located in Clerkenwell, within walking distance of Farringdon and King’s Cross, the studio is convenient for agencies, production companies and talent alike. We offer:
  • A discreet arrival experience
  • Green room and make-up space
  • A calm, professional environment for high-profile guests
For producers handling celebrities, executives or contributors on tight schedules, this matters.

Podcasts Are Becoming Shows

As platforms invest more heavily in exclusive podcast content and as YouTube and social discovery drive audience growth, podcasts are increasingly produced and consumed as shows. Lighting matters. Framing matters. Set design matters. Longevity matters. A well-shot visual podcast does more than document a conversation. It creates an asset that can live across platforms, be clipped for social, and maintain relevance beyond launch week.

Our View

We’re not reinventing ourselves as a podcast studio. We’re applying two decades of broadcast experience to a format that is evolving rapidly. If you’re producing a video-first podcast and need:
  • Clean sound
  • Controlled lighting
  • A talent-ready environment
  • A genuinely central London location
Mount Pleasant Studio is set up to support you. We’ve been hosting interviews for 20 years. We just now happen to call many of them visualised podcasts.
